Splitting – when to split your cards
If you get two BlackJack cards dealt with the same value, for example two 5s or two Jacks, you have the option to “split” (a “split-button” will appear).
When you split you are creating two hands out of the first one.
Now another bet equal to your original bet is done automatically on the two new hands.
These two new hands are played separately with the same rules as any other hand would be played in Blackjack.
This can be a good method if you think you are hot, or the dealer’s hand looks horrible – for more advice on this stick to our blackjack strategy charts.
Varying form casino to casinos you are allowed to “resplit” if you get another same-value card.
If you are splitting Aces most blackjack casinos will deal only one more card per hand!
